Roman Sacrificial Altar

This Roman sacrifical altar is made of real patinated Alabaster plaster after an original from France.

The most important rites at the house was pleasing the goddess of the domestic hearth, Vesta. This sacrificial altar was probably framed by two Laren and was used for incense to honour the genius of Juno and other deities.

The cavity on the top is as big enough for a piece of coal.

  • Altar of consecration of mass: approx. 14 x 9 x 9 cm
  • Real Alabaster plaster patinated
  • The original example comes from France
