Almost completely preserved is the most famous work of Suetonius, which appeared after 120 AD: De vita Ceasarum, the Emperor biographies. These eight books dedicated Suetonius to his patron Septicius Clarus. It contains twelve biographies of Roman dictator. First, a biography of Gaius Julius Caesar (44 BC, research does not see him as an Emperor), and then the Emperor Augustus (27 BC-14 AD), and ten of his successor Tiberius (14 - 37), Caligula (37-41), Claudius (41-54), Nero (54-68), Galba (68-69), Otho (69), Vitellius (69), Vespasian (69-79), Titus ( 79-81) and Domitian (81-96).
