(lat. atramenterium) made of red clay, glazed inside.
The small hole at the top of atramentarium is used to hold the pen or of writing tube, so the excess ink can flow back.
Atramentaria of this kind are found very frequently in Roman excavations. They could be closed with a simple piece of cloth or a cork.
